What do you remember from your childhood? Were you were really close to your grandmother, who always made cookies for you? Or maybe you were a social butterfly, who was always invited to plenty of birthday parties and sleepovers. For me, I was never allowed to leave the house [strict parents]. I liked certain TV shows, but they hardly interested me in a way that books always have.
My favorite author was Roald Dahl. His unpredictable stories are forever written with subtle, quirky humor. But when you write for children, complementing illustrations are so important. That’s why Quentin Blake, in my opinion, was the perfect match for Roald Dahl. His artwork is so unique and inspirational, just like Dahl’s stories.
